The Hospital Link Worker supports those looking after people who are presently in either Roodlands or Herdmanflat hospital or who might require hospital in patient care as part of the management of a long term condition, and works with NHS and Social Work staff to improve support to carers of people with these conditions.

The service provides support to carers for up to 6 weeks, by providing both practical and emotional support.  This includes assistance with benefit applications, advice and information, and the opportunity to talk to someone that understands your situation.

How to Access the Service

Speak to either NHS staff or community nursing staff to make a formal referral to the Service, or you can contact Carers of East Lothian directly.

Once a referral is received then contact with the carer will be made by Jenny Swan, the Hospital Link Worker,
Carers of East Lothian  (0131 665 0135).
A
n appointment can be made either at the hospital, the carer’s home or a place suitable to the carer to discuss support.
