DESCRIPTION:As you may have heard\, we are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year at Carers of East Lothian. \nTo mark this really special milestone\, we are hosting a variety of events throughout the year. Our Carer Support Groups are opening their doors to guests to be part of the celebrations. We are delighted to announce some of the events that will be happening through the year. Please see details on the image. As you will see some details are to be confirmed as the events are finalised. \nBookings will open for each of the events close to when they are running and we will announce each of the events on our social media\, our website and via our mailing list. Our carer support workers will also inform carers they are working with. \nPlease see the poster for specific events happening on each of the dates\, but the programme will include: \n\nA trip to the Botanic Gardens\nAn afternoon tea\nA history talk\nA talk on mental health from a consultant psychiatrist\nAn archery session\nA poetry session on the theme of ‘pearl’\nAn art session on the theme of ‘pearl’\nA wellbeing event\nA celebration for our volunteers

SUMMARY:Caring Spaces- Monthly Art Group for Unpaid Carers
DESCRIPTION:Join CoEL and Art In Healthcare for the third year of the Caring Spaces art group. Working with Juliana Capes\, Edinburgh based artist from Art in Healthcare\, this group will try different techniques and materials each month such as ink\, mosaic\, collage and printmaking. \nNo art experience necessary and all materials provided. If you’re totally new to art and want to give it a go\, you are very welcome! These sessions are designed to support carers to switch off\, relax and enjoy each other’s company. \nLight refreshments will be provided. \n***Please note\, due to funding\, these sessions are for people who are caring for adults. \n\n\nDATE: 3rd Monday of every month TIME: 10:00am – 12:00pm VENUE: The Fraser Centre\, Tranent. SUMMARY:North Berwick Carer Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Our North Berwick Carer Support Group is held on the second Tuesday of every month 10:30 – midday. The group offers a safe space for carers to meet with other carers. New members can attend\, but we request that you contact Carer Support Worker\, Aileen Gillies prior to attending so that we can inform the venue of numbers: aileen.gillies@coel.org.uk. The group offers opportunity for peer support and connections and guest speakers often visit with topics of relevance. \nUntil the end of 2025 the group was held at The Nether Abbey Hotel\, but due to the Nether Abbey being under new management\, we are looking into alternative meeting spaces for the North Berwick Support Group in 2026. Please contact us for further information. We will update this page as soon as a new space has been confirmed. There is normally a £3.70 collection for teas and coffees at each meeting.

SUMMARY:Online Carer Support Group
DESCRIPTION:We run an online support group to offer carers who are less able to meet in person to connect with other carers. The group is held online using the platform – Zoom. 15 carers can attend the group. At the moment the group is at full capacity however active membership is reviewed every 6 months. If you would like to sign up to the group please contact Louise Kennedy\, Carer Support Worker on louise@coel.org.uk  \nThe online support group do have two opportunities to meet in-person twice during the year.  They meet in person for their meeting date in June (for Carers Week) and they meet in-person for their December meeting date (for a festive celebration).
