Carers of East Lothian Celebrates 30 Years of Supporting Unpaid Carers

As you may have heard, we are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year at Carers of East Lothian.

To mark this really special milestone, we are hosting a variety of events throughout the year. Our Carer Support Groups are opening their doors to guests to be part of the celebrations. We are delighted to announce some of the events that will be happening through the year. Please see details on the image below. As you will see some details are to be confirmed as the events are finalised.

Bookings will open for each of the events closer to when they are running. We are pleased to say that bookings for the Botanic Gardens trip with our Dunbar Carer Support Group are now open. This session is open to carers. A coach will be travelling from Dunbar at 10am to the Botanic Gardens and will leave the gardens at 3pm, so if you would like to come, you will need to organise getting to and from Dunbar. If you would like to request one of the spaces, please contact centre@coel.org.uk or give us a call on 01316650135.

You may have already received one of the pearl ribbons that our craft group made to mark the 30 year celebrations. If not, the group facilitators will be bringing them along to sessions through the year. A pearl coloured ribbon was chosen because pearls are traditionally associated with 30 – year anniversaries. And like pearls, unpaid carers are valuable and often hidden from view.

For more information about the 30th anniversary celebrations, or upcoming events, please contact Gemma Twells-Davison at gemma@coel.org.uk.

Special thanks go to East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership for their support and funding towards CoEL’s anniversary events.
