Carers Rights Day 2025 – Your Right to be involved when someone you care for is being discharged from hospital.

As a carer, you have a right to be involved in the discharge process when the person you care for is in hospital. This means staff must invite your views about the discharge, take your views into account when planning the discharge and inform you in advance when the discharge will take place.

To mark Carers Rights Day 2025, Carers of East Lothian have worked with East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership to produce leaflets around carers rights. You can click find the leaflet on hospital discharge below. There are also copies of these leaflets available at the Carers of East Lothian office at East Lothian Community Hospital.
