Colour For Carers

We at CoEL are absolutely delighted to be supported by local artist Kate Henderson. Kate has made 20 drawings over the past few months from walks along the Ormiston/Pencaitland railway walk. These drawings have formed her Colour for Carers project. Kate is selling each of these mounted pieces and has decided to generously donate 100% of the funds that she raises to support the work that we do at Carers of East Lothian. Each of the pieces is totally unique. Please read below to hear directly from Kate about why she has chosen to support our organisation and local carers.

“I wanted to support Carers of East Lothian to thank them for the support they gave to my late mother. My mum was the main carer for my dad who sadly developed Alzheimer’s at 66. They provided her support and information, and she regularly attended weekly meet ups for coffee, she continued to attend these after my father died as she had established friendships within the group and was able to help others who were experiencing the same issues she had already been through. I decided to create colourful drawings inspired by walks along the Ormiston/Pencaitland Railway Walk which is close to my workshop and I thought Colours for Carers was an appropriate title to sum up the project. Each piece is an A5 original signed mixed media drawing on a mounted backing board in a cello bag. They are all going to be £75 but please give more if you can as this is a special price for my original artwork and I am not taking anything and donating the full amount raised so I hope that you will support me to raise as many funds as possible for this worthy cause.”

The project will be launched at 12pm on Friday 25 October on Facebook. Please follow: facebook.com/katehendersonart
