World Menopause Day is held every year on the 18th of October. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing for all those going through the menopause.
Even though menopause is a normal part of the life course, women report feeling unprepared and unsupported for the impact menopause and menopausal symptoms may have on their life – including their work life, home life, self-esteem, confidence and sex life – their physical, and their mental health.
NHS Inform have a series of useful videos about the menopause. The short clinical information videos cover various areas, from menopause myths to hormone replacement therapy. You can view them by following this link.
The theme for World Menopause Day 2024 is Menopause Hormone Therapy (MHT). Please find a link to a leaflet produced by the International Menopause Society about Menopause and Menopause Hormone Therapy.
Support Group in East Lothian
Haddington Athletic CFC are working in partnership with the Scottish Football Association and Menopause Goals who will be delivering education and support on Menopause.
The goal is to enable women to comprehend the complexities of menopause, fostering logical thinking about their body’s needs. By applying their learning in manageable steps, women can reduce symptoms, boost confidence to communicate with health professionals, and articulate their needs effectively.
The program will be delivered by a trained educator at their 3G clubhouse every second Sunday.
