Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

11th – 17th May is Mental Health Awareness Week. The Mental Health Foundation have chosen Action as this year’s theme because, while awareness is vital, real change comes when we take action too. They are asking people to join them in taking action to support good mental health. Even small actions can help us feel hopeful and less powerless. And while our individual actions matter, when we come together we are even more powerful.

We know that carers can be very busy, which is why we thought this resource from the Mental Health Foundation was a helpful reminder of some small, practical actions that can support mental wellbeing day to day and boost your mental health.

We also know that connecting with others can have a positive impact on our mental health. That’s one of the reasons we run a range of support groups for carers across East Lothian, offering opportunities to meet others, share experiences and take some time for yourself.

Maybe one action you could take today is finding out more about one of our groups.

If you’re interested in joining any of these groups, please contact us on 0131 665 0135 or at centre@coel.org.uk and we’ll put you in touch with the member of staff who runs the group.

Please note, some of these groups have a waiting list, but some do not.
